Back to the Sixties with Topshop

I was browsing Topshop earlier, as I have vouchers to spend yayyy!! Anyway I came across their new ‘Debutante’ collection, which I instantly fell in love with as it reminded me of modern prints meet the vintage sixties, and its Amazinggg!!  Most of it is very structured and tailored which I think looks great in Spring time!! Here are some of my favourites..

Slightly random umbrella thrown into the mix there, butttt I like the pattern, and I live in England so an umbrella is almost more vital than clothes!!

Fancy Florals…prefect for Spring!!

Spring time is on its way, and what better reason is there to bring out the floral prints that normally dominate this season!! I have therefore gathered together some of my favourite new floral pieces for the coming months.

The above dresses were all available on ASOS and are from the warehouse and pepe jeans brand.  www.asos.com

There is no need to restrict the floral print to your clothing, why not add some ‘nail rock’ or hair accessories??

Top Tights!!

Now although the Christmas season has gone, it is still really cold in England…it is still only January after all!! Therefore if you are anything like me, tights are still getting pulled out of the wardrobe every morning!!  You might however be getting bored of your plain black staples, so why not try a change and go for some patterned numbers!! Instantly adding interest to your outfit!!

If you are not sure how you would wear these, play it safe by keeping the rest of your outfit fairly plain to avoid clashing prints!! Just add a black skirt/dress and a simple top for a casual and interesting look!!

Making a TYPO…

From season to season we are faced with new collections of various prints and patterns.  This season is no different with the arrival of Topshop’s www.topshop.com  ‘Typography’ print.  Lettering within lettering is printed onto clothing and really makes for an interesting new design for Spring!!

print

First of all this skirt is midi length…the single most flattering length skirt on ANYONE…so I am instantly drawn to it!!  Usually any item of clothing that has anything written on it is a no no for me, but this skirt I love!! I think it is the fact that other than being used as a pattern, the lettering is not making a statement.  The use of just black and white on this piece makes it a classic design, if colour had been used within this pattern it might have ended up bordering on tacky. What makes this piece for me is the use of lettering within lettering, merging the black base colour of the skirt with the inner lettering.  If the white lettering was printed on its own, the print would have stood out too much and for me, and would have lost its sophisticated appeal!

print shirt print top

The above pieces carry on the ‘typography’ pattern and I again, really enjoy them both!!  The sheer shirt on the left can be dressed up with a blazer and high-waisted suit trousers or dressed down over some black skinnies.  The top on the left however is definitely a more casual piece.  Wear with skinnies (red if your daring enough), or a skater style skirt and converse for a more laid back look!!

I am usually one to shy away from crazy patterns like these, but the use of minimalist colours i.e black and white really makes them wearable!! Xx

Alice McCall’s New Collection

Alice McCall is an Australian born fashion designer, whose new collection I came across when searching for some floral patterned pieces.  I love how her new collection over lays vibrant patterned floral prints over black and white, it really gives and interesting effect!! The cut and shape of her new designs are also amazing, and look like they would be so flattering!! The four dresses below are all available on ASOS and fairly pricey…but we can all dream?

Meadham Kirchhoff Spring/Summer 2013

I love these outfits by Meadham Kirchoff. I would never wear them, but I love them.  They are crazy, colourful and patterned and remind me of Alice in Wonderland meets French Aristocrat.  Having just watched the video from the London Fashion show on American Vogue, I decided I had to share!!

Tell me her outfit isn’t slightly inspired by Alice..?

The runway show itself was interesting.  The models moved in and out of simple design sets between two run ways, I thought this was such a good idea and the sets themselves really helped portray the theme of the clothing!!
